How to choose the right gearbox?
Check whether the photos and gearbox type (helical, bevel, worm, planetary, etc.) match.

Finally, check the gearbox’s ratio, input/output shaft diameters, mounting dimensions, and allowable backlash to ensure accurate fit.

Functions
- Power transmission & speed control — A fertilizer spreader gearbox transfers PTO input power (typically 540 or 1000 RPM) to the spinner disc or agitator at a controlled output speed. The reduction ratio ensures even spreading patterns, stable disc rotation, and consistent fertilizer distribution across different field conditions.
- Durability & environmental protection — Gearboxes are commonly built with cast iron or alloy-steel housings and corrosion-resistant coatings to withstand long-term exposure to fertilizers—materials that can be highly abrasive and chemically corrosive.
