How to choose the right gearbox?

- Power transmission & speed conversion — Converts tractor PTO speed (commonly 540 / 1000 RPM) into reduced output speed and substantially higher torque for the auger shaft, enabling efficient drilling in soils of different densities and maintaining steady drilling performance under load.
- Durability & protection — Heavy-duty housings (cast iron / alloy steel) with protective finishes and robust sealing keep soil, grit, and moisture out, protecting gears and bearings from abrasive wear and corrosion common in earth-drilling work.
- Safety / overload protection — Slip clutches, shear-bolt couplings, or torque-limiting devices interrupt torque when the auger meets an obstruction (rocks, root balls), protecting the gearbox and tractor driveline from shock loads.
